Jeffrey S. Sternberg
Jeffrey S. Sternberg is an attorney practicing in Kotz Sangster Wysocki P.C.'s Birmingham, Michigan office. He is a graduate of the Boston University School of Law, Detroit College of Law and Michigan State University. Mr. Sternberg has extensive experience in the area of estate planning, including charitable planning, probate and trust administration, drafting wills and trusts, tax planning and business succession planning. His practice includes business and corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, taxation, business transactions, business entities and real estate transactions. Mr. Sternberg has a special focus on families, including family owned companies, in connection with succession planning, shareholder agreements and buy-sell agreements.
Mr. Sternberg is the Practice Group Co-Leader of Kotz Sangster Wysocki P.C.'s Estate Planning/Taxation Practice Group. Mr. Sternberg frequently speaks on estate, tax and business planning both in Michigan and across the country. He has spoken to both the general public and provided training sessions for attorneys, accountants and the financial services industry.
Jeff has advised clients regarding their family distribution and tax planning. Examples include arranging the transfer of a privately held business from parents to children; setting up charitable foundations for professional athletes, advising individuals and couples of the various distribution options and the impact of both estate and income taxes along with the practical ramifications of their decisions.
Mr. Sternberg has consulted with business owners on the structuring, acquisition and divestiture of their business and real estate entities. In addition, he has been involved in the purchase and sale and financing of commercial real estate including office buildings, shopping centers and multi family housing projects.
